The difference between an oxygen colon cleanse and other colon cleanses.

If you really want to do a cleanse then an oxygen colon cleanse is the only one I’d recommend. Here’s why…

The question I am asked most, is is it really necessary to do a colon cleanse at all? I have to be honest and tell you that for a normal healthy young person who has no digestive problems, I don’t think it is necessary. If you eat a diet with plenty of fiber and drink enough pure water each day, your digestive system, which includes your colon, should be able to take care of itself.

The colon is the large intestine where undigested food is eliminated. Usually this is a natural process, but for several reasons, for instance a diet full of processed food, lack of fiber, dehydration or certain medications, this process is interrupted and constipation, bloating, flatulence or diarrhoea can take hold. If these symptoms continue, or recur on a regular basis, then, and only then, should a cleanse be attempted.

The oxygen colon cleanse has a lot to recommend it over other cleanses, as it is much more gentle than, say, a herbal cleanse. This type of cleanse is comparatively new compared to the others and has hardly any side effects. Herbal colon cleansers on the other hand have a stronger action, but can have extreme side effects in some people such as constant diarrhoea or stomach cramps. These side effects can be uncomfortable enough to prevent people from socializing, or even going to work in some cases for up to a few days.

There are other ways to cleanse the colon apart from the oxygen colon cleanse, or the herbal cleanse. Enemas are probably the quickest and most efficient cleanses available. However these are usually used by doctors when it’s necessary to empty the colon fast. This could be before surgery for instance, or before childbirth. Enemas are not pleasant and are not used outside a medical environment.

Then there is colon hydrotherapy, also known as colonic irrigation, which involves “washing” the colon out with warm water. There are some who believe this can help people lose weight as well as increasing colon health. The thing is colon hydrotherapy is expensive when compared to the oxygen colon cleanse, as it is not a process you’d want to do at home!

The oxygen colon cleanse seems to have advantages that the others lack. It is gentle, has no side effects, works at night while the body rests and uses only natural ingredients which generate oxygen in the bowel. It simply involves taking capsules or powder before bed. It is efficient at removing toxic bacteria while leaving the healthy bacteria, so necessary for digestive health, intact. This is because toxins cannot survive in an oxygenated environment.

Remember however, that despite using any type of colon cleanse, if your dietary habits are poor, the health of your colon will not benefit much, if at all. Doing any kind of colon cleanse is not the lazy way to good digestive health! You really need to increase your intake of vegetable and other kinds of high fiber foods and make sure your water intake is adequate. Only then will you reap the full benefits of the oxygen colon cleanse.

Colon hydrotherapy – is it really necessary?

Should you try colon hydrotherapy? There’s quite a lot of advertising today that promotes irrigation of the digestive tract. But do you really need to irrigate your colon? Or is it just another health scam dreamed up to separate you from your money?

Colon hydrotherapy is an alternative therapy which sounds a bit like magic. It’s supposed to improve your skin, prevent disease, promote a sense of well-being, detoxify your body while at the same time helping you lose weight. How it does that is not fully explained, except to say it cleans out and stimulates the action of the colon.

The first thing you may find out about colon hydrotherapy is that it’s a rather uncomfortable process. A rubber tube is inserted into the rectum and a large quantity of water is then pumped through your viscera. If your really lucky, the therapist may even massage your lower abdomen to ensure complete elimination of waste!

Hydrotherapy has the same effect on the colon as an enema. With an enema, they try and flush out your bowel with water sent in through a tube in the bowel at different pressures. Colon hydrotherapy uses the same basic procedure but uses a lot more water. Enemas are a valid procedure used to empty the bowel before surgery.

Colon hydrotherapy - not a new procedure

Colon hydrotherapy is certainly not new, in fact it has been around for hundreds of years. Usually when a treatment has stood the test of time, it is because it works. Unfortunately the same thing cannot be said about this type of colon cleansing. For some people this type of procedure could be downright dangerous. Anyone suffering with haemorrhoids, Crohn’s disease, colitis or any intestinal disorder should give colonic irrigation a big miss.

Sending large volumes of water into the intestines can cause a temporary electrolyte imbalance in the fluids of your body. The body’s fluids are very finely balanced and an electrolyte imbalance can cause irregular heartbeat and other symptoms.

Colonic hydrotherapy has grown into a sizeable industry in the western world and is popular with those trying to lose weight as well as the alternative health set. There is absolutely nothing wrong with alternative health and trying to increase your health and well-being. But it is a waste of money to use a process which can do more harm than good. Overuse of colonic irrigation will weaken the natural rhythm of the colon just as much as overuse of laxatives.

On balance, I find this type of colon cleansing difficult to recommend. If despite knowing the above facts you are determined to go ahead with colon hydrotherapy, then at least make sure you find an accredited “hydrotherapist” and ask them if their equipment is properly sterilised.

Colon cleansing using over the counter colon cleansers is fast gaining popularity. According to most advocates, the benefits far outweigh the discomfort. You can certainly make your own at home, most people don’t seem to mind that colon cleansing involves a fair bit of preparation. However, if you are thinking of trying a colon cleansing, then I would recommend using over the counter colon cleansers. They have been proven effective and safe to use. Over all digestive health begins with a healthy and clean colon.

The colon is the large intestine that extends from the cecum to the rectum. It is responsible for removing salt, water and nutrients from stool. The colon is lined with muscles, helping to move whatever passes through. Bacteria, billions of them, line the colon and live there is a state of homeostasis.

What are the advantages of using  over the counter colon cleansers?

Everybody knows that toxins are unhealthy. And the colon should not be a host to them. The sooner the body gets rid of toxins, the healthier the person will be. Toxins have been blamed for a wide variety of symptoms like fatigue coupled with low energy, headache, and some claim weight gain is caused by toxins, too.

On the other hand, people who have had colon cleansing and have done it on a regular basis, report improved mental outlook, an improved immune system that makes the body less susceptible to diseases, and for some even weight loss.

It is for these reasons that people are willing to undergo colon cleansing as part of a regimen that promotes healthy living. There are two main methods of colon cleansing. The first one is to go to a health practitioner and let them do the irrigation using an apparatus and the other is taking over the counter colon cleansers.

As mentioned, more popular than the irrigation method is taking supplements (orally) that are targeted for colon cleansing. These supplements work in expelling toxic contents of the colon. These are do-it-yourself , over the counter colon cleansers, used in the privacy of your own home.

Some of these over the counter colon cleansers are: laxatives, very strong herbal teas, enzymes and powders. Although some use home-made colon cleansers, the more popular choice is over the counter colon cleansers because of its consistency and proven efficacy.

Of the home-made variety, most are made from Bentonite clay mixed with psyllium husk and juice or water. Bentonite clay is edible and has very strong binding properties. Some people just use juices as there are recipes for colon cleansers than can be taken in this form.

But the most convenient and by far the easiest to use, are the over the counter colon cleansers. These are pre made, pre mixed and pre measured, in tablet and capsule forms, making it very convenient, even for people with busy lifestyles.
